About Lahore University of Management

Established in 1985, the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is a pioneer school in Business Management in Pakistan. Over the years, the University has established a reputation for academic excellence and has received great acclaim for its programmes from within and outside the country. The last three decades have seen an accelerated rate of development almost in every direction. Keeping in mind the national and international needs and trends, education has been kept current and relevant. State-of-the-art Research Systems and Centres have been established in the University to tackle the emerging fields more efficiently, and well in time. All teaching courses are updated on a regular basis to meet global standards. LUMS has played a key role in setting high standards of academics and producing professionals who can compete globally. LUMS advocates a culture of academic excellence, tolerance, research, diversity, pluralism and freedom of thought. LUMS houses five schools, the Suleman Dawood School of Business, the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law and the Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education. The academic programmes offered at LUMS include undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degrees in various disciplines. All courses are taught in English and students have the freedom to explore their interests in a variety of subjects before choosing their majors. LUMS also offers a wide array of executive courses through the Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), which was established with support from the Rausing family of Sweden. City

Lahore is one of the most diversified, pluralistic and peaceful cities of Pakistan. It is situated on the bank of River Ravi that flows into Pakistan from the snow captivated hills and mountains of the Kashmir Valley. It is the second most prosperous city of Pakistan with a population of 11,126,285 people. It is well known as the historical, cultural and educational capital of the country. The city has seen the comings and goings of many kings, emperors and rulers from different cultures and backgrounds from all around the world. Lahore has absorbed these diverse influences achieving a unique sense of history and diversity. The city is famous for its historical landmarks. The Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and Gurdwara are a testament to the Mughal and Sikh legacy of the city. Other places of interest are the mausoleum of Emperor Jehangir, Pearl and Golden Mosques, the tomb of Ranjit Singh, the Wazir Khan Mosque and Lahore Museum. The Old Walled City, with its narrow cobble-stoned streets and old houses, is a museum in itself. The city has produced countless scholars, Nobel Laureates, poets, writers, intellectuals and scientists. Lahore is thus the centre of higher education in Pakistan. Medical schools, universities, professional colleges and art schools can be found dotting the city landscape. The city has got state-of-the-art transportation facilities, internet connectivity, stadiums of various sports, huge parks, swimming pools, entertainment spots and dozens of food streets, and hundreds of restaurants that offer all sorts of indigenous, continental and fast foods. From the security perspective, Lahore is one of the safest and greenest cities of Pakistan. The city operates under an integrated command, control and communication system that virtually guarantees public safety through the use of technology, infrastructure, personnel and processes. The city has got a number of world-class shopping centres, such as Fortress Square and Packages Mall. Other than these shopping malls, all facilities are available at a short walk from the University, ensuring that students have easy access to everything they need.
