About National Central University

National Central University, NCU, is located in Jhongli, Taoyuan, Taiwan and it has become a home to more than 12,000 students. Currently NCU has 8 colleges, 22 undergraduate programs and 50 graduate programs. NCU is also one of the members of the University System of Taiwan (UST), sharing resources with National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Yang Ming University. NCU has been selected twice in “The Aim for the Top University Project”, receiving grants from the Ministry of Education. The University has consistently been evaluated as “Excellent”. We are ranked as No. 3 in Taiwan by Google Scholar Citations (267 in World), No. 4 in Taiwan in 2015 U.S. News & World Report (427 in Best Global Universities Rankings) and ranked 351-400 in QS World University Rankings. City

Taiwan is a state in East Asia with neighbors include China, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south. Taiwan is the most populous state and the most beautiful island in Asia with a huge largest economy. Taiwan has a modern and traditional culture and in a year 10 million tourists visit the country. The island’s size and diversity lets visitors to experience the landscape and culture and you may visit many beautiful islands in a very short time. In Taiwan there are approximately 5000 temples and The oldest temple in Taiwan is found in the Pengu Islands, and has been existed for over 300 years The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin (Chinese) and English is the most popular foreign language. The people are so warm and friendly with a generous treatment. The country has a favorable higher education system with different opportunities for foreign students. The reasons to be in Taiwan as a student; are stated as safe environment, good quality education and affordable living expenses by international students who have been to Taiwan. ‣ Notes

Please note that most of the courses taught in English at NCU are in graduate level but allow junior and senior undergraduate to take. Therefore, an undergraduate student without Chinese Proficiency but with good English Proficiency should come to NCU for exchange on the 3rd year or 4th year of their undergraduate. the junior and senior students are more eligible because most of the English-taught courses at NCU are in graduate level but allow junior and senior students to take. Please keep this in mind because the students might have problems with course selections. Also, due to the limit of English-lectured undergraduate courses, we do not recommend to send the freshman or sophomore to do the exchange in NCU.
