At Sabancı University, the “Freedom to Declare Major” allows students to choose their major after completing their first year of study. During the first year, students are enrolled in a broad, interdisciplinary curriculum known as the “Foundation Development Program” (FDP), which provides them with a solid academic foundation across various fields. After completing the FDP, students can explore different subjects and then declare their major in the second year of study. This flexibility allows students to make a well-informed decision about their academic path based on their interests and strengths, rather than being tied to a specific department or program from the start. Students have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of majors offered at the university. The freedom to declare a major empowers students to tailor their education to their personal academic and career goals. Click here to learn more about Sabancı University's unique education model.

Let's first give you some information about alternate methods of transfer applications to Sabanci University. 1. You can apply for a proper transfer. This is called a transfer application. It opens yearly, and applications are followed by Student Resources. Usually this method does not involve a scholarship. There are several specific requirements which have to be followed, and you have to physically post all your documents to the university to be considered. For more information you can visit this website. 2. You can apply as a freshman, as if you were applying to the university from high school, and then attempt to get your courses transferred after. In this method you apply like usual, through the online application. You can receive scholarships this way also. After you have gotten admitted and after you register, you can speak to the faculty to inquire which of your courses may be transferred from your current undergraduate program. The downside of this method is that you do not have any guarantee about how many of your courses will be counted before you have made your final decision, but since most programs have similar curriculums you can assume that most basic courses should be counted. You can compare your curriculum with Sabanci University's curriculum to get a better sense of how likely your courses are to be transferred.
