Mechatronics Engineering is a discipline born from the fusion of mechanical and electronic concepts, originating in Japan in 1969. It's a methodology that builds upon mechanical engineering, enabling system design through multidisciplinary engineering approaches. Mechatronics engineers work on the design, analysis, production, maintenance, and sales of mechanical and thermal systems, employing fundamental physical principles from mechanical engineering to provide analytical solutions by mathematically modeling physical phenomena.

Today, modern systems, be it consumer-oriented products, manufacturing machinery, or even complex measuring instruments, must fulfill various constraints simultaneously. These constraints might include complex behaviors, mechanical and electronic precision, low cost, low power consumption, environmental friendliness, network connectivity, user interaction, and operation in undefined environments. Engineers designing such systems should comfortably integrate not only core areas like electronics, mechanics, computer science, and machine control but also other fields such as optics and materials science.

Sabancı University's Mechatronics program aims to educate creative individuals capable of designing complex modern systems by applying ideas from all these areas. This approach is supported by an educational program that harmoniously combines diverse disciplines, encourages practical applications, and fosters participation in scientific research during undergraduate studies. The program benefits from the foundational research conducted by faculty members and the comprehensive scientific research infrastructure used in projects carried out in collaboration with various companies.

Students enrolled in undergraduate programs at Sabancı University have access to a wide range of elective courses. However, naturally, each program includes mandatory courses that must be taken. For the Mechatronics Engineering program, to provide a few examples, courses such as Machine Learning, Decision Economics, Statistical Modeling, Introduction to Computer-Aided Design, and Solid Modeling are included. Just like in any undergraduate field, project courses are mandatory in the Mechatronics Engineering program. These projects can be taken not only within the Mechatronics Engineering domain but also from different undergraduate programs. The medium of instruction is English. You can access detailed information about the courses in the Mechatronics Engineering program on the progr

am's website.
